A paddle switch angle grinder is designed for light or short use. The grinder only spins when the paddle is depressed. On most paddle switch grinders there is no lock on mechanism.

depends what’s on the armature: generally use an alcohol; an oil like WD-40 will interefere with electric condictivity. After the alcohol has evaporated some some graphite on the armature (even a pencil lead scribbled over will do). Check brushes fro their face if worn replace. They may be spring loaded: check strength of springs and that brushes can travel freely up and down (ie can be puished agasint armature by the spring.)
If brushes are less than half there or close to brush holder they need to be replaced or you will burn up Arther and then you will need to make a lowes run and you can buy parts from dewalt on line or elect whole sale that sells parts
How do you tell if the brushes are bad and where is the best place to get parts?
For parts, see your nearest service center. Service centers can be located at http://www.DeWALT.com or call 1-800 4 DeWALT.
I believe the best way to clean it would be with compressed air.
Maybe alcohol as a substitute,or something similiar that wouldn’t leave behind a conductive residue.
If you see a lot of arcing while the armature is turning, you can garuantee that the brushes have worn down and need to be replaced.
